Google Follower's Gadget for XML Blogger Template Only?

This is the first post on my new blog. The reason I started this new blog was because I wanted to test out some of the new features Blogger has added recently. I did try to upgrade my template, but what I got discarded all the hard work I had put in to customizing the look of my blog.

They warned me, but I tried it anyway. And I found out that the upgraded template is written in XML instead of HTML. I took a look at it and I really didn't think I'd be able to customize a new XML template and end up with something that looked even somewhat close to what I have now. I'm fairly comfortable coding in HTML, and really like the look of my blog.

I'd still like to add the "Followers Gadget", although it apparently works only if you use the XML template. There should be a way to add the XML code inline to an HTML template. So far I haven't been able to get it to work though. If anyone has any inside info I'd be grateful if you could share.

10/12/2016: This post asks a question that is now irrelative. Anyway, I was talking about my other blog, Sleeping with The Devil (SWTD). Re-reading what I wrote above, that isn't clear. Back in 2006 Blogger didn't have templates. I customized SWTD using HTML. In any case, I've since updated SWTD by adding a template. Years ago, actually. And IMO, it looks pretty good.

But knowing some HTML basics (as well as CSS) helps. I've seen some bloggers who don't even know how to do paragraphs. Here, for example. When this guy wants to indicate a new paragraph, he does so with a bunch of periods. You'd think that after 9 years he'd have figured it out.

  1. Two responses already? You just started this blog and it appears to already be quite popular. Well done.

  2. Apparently "ponderings" is not a word. You could go with "pondering" (no "S"). There is an entry for that at dictionary.com.

So much for your blog being "popular", I think all these posters just stopped by to have a laugh at your expense. They can't believe someone started a new blog and didn't even check to see if one of the words he used in the blog title was a REAL word.

I suggest you delete this blog ASAP before anyone else sees it and you end up embarrassing yourself further. It's a good thing you didn't use your real name.

  3. I have no intention of using my REAL name on the internet. I don't want my (real world) enemies Googling my name to come accross anything I've written and somehow use it against me. Or harass me online.

If that's the information you're looking for you can forget it. I will not be posting my real name online. Here on this blog, or anywhere else.

  4. I'm pathetic? Why don't you sign in with your Google account instead of cowardly hiding behind an anonymous identity? Jerk.

  5. Don't you just hate the Annonymous posters? And he said YOU'RE paranoid! Where's HIS idenity?

    Did you get my email?

  6. After some more research into the topic I haven't found a way to add the follower's gadget to my older blog. I did discover, however, that the older template is called "classic" and the newer template is called "layout". Not that that helps me any. But if anyone reads this and was confused by my use of the term "XML Template" -- Blogger calls it their "layout" template. Although it is coded in XML, as opposed to HTML, which the old "classic" template uses.

Sorry, I didn't see it. I just went and checked my Yahoo inbox though, found it, and sent a reply.
